Satrang Board Members
The board meets on the first Tuesday of each month. All members are invited to attend the meetings as observers. Please contact the board for details on the time and place of the meetings. SALMAN HUSAINY

Salman Husainy is a Social Worker by profession. He is a long term Satrang Board member. He is driven by his passion for visibility, outreach and acceptance of queer rights. He enjoys reading and making connections with people. People who know Salman will tell you that he has a calm and determined soul and can get things done.

MANOJ KUMAR

Manoj Kumar is an IT professional. He is the current President of SATRANG. He has been on the board more than 7 years, and passionate about contributing to empower LGBTQ community in Southern California. He is a singer and performed in many SATRANG functions. Manoj’s kind demeanor makes him a wonderful member of our team.

SHEENA MALHOTRA

Dr. Malhotra is Associate Professor of Gender & Women's Studies at California State University, Northridge. She is presently serving as the Chair of the Gender and Women's Studies Department as well coordinator for the Queer Studies Program at CSUN. Her current book project is co-authored with Dr. Aimee Carrillo Rowe and Kimberlee Perez, and entitled Answer The Call: Imagined (Im)Migrations and New Global Subjectivities in Indian Call Centers. She is also co-editing an anthology on silence with Dr. Carrillo Rowe entitled, Still the Silence: Feminist Reflections on the Edges of Sound. Dr. Malhotra has served as an Executive Producer and Commissioning Editor of Programs for BiTV (Business India Television) for two years. She has also worked in the Indian film industry as an Assistant Director to Shekhar Kapur (director of Bandit Queen and Elizabeth). She has been an active volunteer with Satrang since 2004 and has been on the board since 2009.

PARIND SHAH

Being a systems architect by profession, Parind is the media and online co-ordinator of Satrang besides being the website administrator and designer of Satrang website. He has been actively serving on the Pride Committee of Satrang. He loves to travel and has a blog that gives travel related information, guides and tips.

GINA SINGH

Gitanjali Kaur Singh holds a Master's degree from UCLA in Asian American Studies and undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount in Urban Planning. She is currently a PhD student at UCLA focusing her research on immigration, sexuality and Sikh American women. She taught US Women of Color at California State University at Long Beach for five years and worked in business administration for six years at Los Angeles Unified School District. She is also currently working on developing youth programs for youth from marginalized backgrounds and enjoys dancing, listening to loud music and loves her family.

ABHIJEET

Abhijeet has been a proud satrang community member/volunteer since 2005. Now as a board member, he wants to help Satrang increase its presence within Southern California's LGBTQ as well as South Asian community. Abhijeet is a Software Engineer by profession and then wastes rest of his time on tennis, good food/wine and movies.


AISHA

Aisha is an interior designer by profession and creator of fun, entertaining events by heart. She has been a longterm volunteer of Satrang and continues to share her talent with the community. Her dedication to providing a safe space to South Asian LGBTIQQ folks has led to her decision to participate on the Board of Satrang and help this organization spread its wings (fabulously)
